William Shakespeare, the world famous poet and
playwright, was born in Stratford-upon-Avon and continued to have a very
direct link with the town throughout his life, finally retiring here in
1613, where he died 3 years later.
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust owns and cares for the
5 Shakespeare Houses in and around Stratford and visitors are able
to take a tour of these locations.
Less than 10 miles away, is the beautiful town of Warwick and it's Castle.
Built by William the Conqueror in 1068, the castle sits on a cliff
overlooking the River Avon. Warwick Castle is open from
10am - 5pm every day and last admission is at 4:00, however there is a range
of entertainment all day so allow plenty of time to make the most of your
day.
